Once every three years your GP practice will be contacted and all women eligible for screening will be invited.
Women do not have to contact us to make an appointment; we will ensure that they receive their invitation at the appropriate time.
When you get your appointment will depend on the GP practice you’re registered with. Don’t worry if your appointment doesn’t arrive as soon as you turn 50. Each GP practice takes part in the screening programme every three years so you may not receive your first invitation until you’re nearly 53.
If it has been more than three and a half years since the last screening appointment then please contact us as soon as possible. If it has been less than three years since your last appointment there is no need to contact us at this time.
Due to the impact of coronavirus, the option for women aged 71 years and over to self-refer has been paused. This is only temporary so we can prioritise those who had their appointments delayed. We’re working hard to increase the number of appointments and are reviewing this regularly. Further updates will be provided when they are available.
