Music Therapy is offered as part of the assessment and rehabilitation of clients at the National Neurobehavioral Rehabilitation Unit at the Robert Fergusson Unit. This unit is set up to assess and provide treatment programmes for adults who have Acquired brain Injuries .
Music Therapy aims to address feelings associated with emotional and physical adjustment due to injury. There are also secondary benefits that include the opportunity for non-verbal communication, stimulation of the right side of the brain (linked to affect regulation) and dexterity.
Referrals to Music Therapy are made by the assessment team at Unit
