The Revascularisation edition of the Heart Manual is designed to be initiated within the first week of a revascularisation procedure at a time when many patients feel most vulnerable. The programme is delivered by specially trained healthcare professionals, usually nurses, who complete have attended the Heart Manual\u2019s two day facilitation course.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Evaluated in the Birmingham Rehabilitation Uptake Maximisation Study (BRUM)<\/a>\u200b randomised controlled trial as part of a four-year study on home-based cardiac rehabilitation with a multi-ethnic population, the home-based programme (Heart Manual Revascularisation edition) and supervised hospital-based rehabilitation programmes equally improve outcomes at 6 months. Secondary analysis showed significant improvements for both programmes in smoking cessation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
