We are fortunate in having a well established and internationally renowned stroke research group.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Currently<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>our researchers are involved in several key randomised controlled treatment trials;<\/li><li>numerous observational studies based at the Scottish Brain Imaging Centre and using cutting edge imaging techniques are improving our understanding of stroke and its subtypes;<\/li><li>further projects are focusing on risk factors, genetics, post stroke depression and personality, visio spatial problems and drug adherence.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.ed.ac.uk\/clinical-brain-sciences\" target=\"_blank\">The Research &amp; Development Subgroup<\/a> is coordinated at the Centre for Clinical Brain Sciences,&nbsp;at the RIE,&nbsp;Edinburgh.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Remit<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>to encourage and oversee research and development opportunities proposed\/ undertaken within the network<\/li><li>to ensure good links are maintained with universities<\/li><\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Active Research Programme Clinical research depends upon clinical services being well-organised as participating patients need to be managed according to high standards and strict protocols.
