This web site is to help you to achieve your goals and while giving you the safest and best care. We want you to have all of the individual information and knowledge you wish about your condition and care. To do this the service is staffed by a wide ranging team to provide holistic care when you become a patient.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Scottish National Spine Service (SNSS) exists to provide a comprehensive paediatric, adolescent and adult spinal service to the residents of Scotland. This service was designated as a National Service commissioned by National Services Division in 2005<\/a>. Recently they changed our title by removing the word ‘deformity’ in May 2021 after discussion started by you – we listen to our patients.<\/p>\n\n\n

We want the best Patient Journey for every individual person. To help with this we use Patient Pathways as a basis of care.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We believe in listening and want to know if you feel “My surgery was successful” or not. As part of this we offer you Patient Reported Outcome Measures (PROMs). We use the British Spine Registry (BSR) for this.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This picture is from October 2017 showing a patient on the 3rd day after spine surgery for scoliosis. She was on her way home that day, well done! Another success for the Enhanced Recovery Pathway (ERP) begun Spring 2017.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The spinal operations are performed at two hospitals in Edinburgh: the\u00a0Royal Hospital for Children and Young People\u00a0and Department of Clinical Neurosciences in an area on the South side of Edinburgh called Edinburgh Bioquarter.
