The School Nurse can support to meet unmet health needs of a child\/young person through direct intervention or signposting.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"gb-container gb-container-3ce02f8f\">\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"493\" height=\"464\" src=\"https:\/\/services.nhslothian.scot\/schoolnursing\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/99\/2022\/12\/ChildYoungPersonSpiderDiagram.jpg\" alt=\"Info Graphic\" class=\"wp-image-520\" style=\"width:424px;height:auto\" srcset=\"https:\/\/services.nhslothian.scot\/schoolnursing\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/99\/2022\/12\/ChildYoungPersonSpiderDiagram.jpg 493w, https:\/\/services.nhslothian.scot\/schoolnursing\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/99\/2022\/12\/ChildYoungPersonSpiderDiagram-300x282.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 493px) 100vw, 493px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p>The School Nursing Team is made up of:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Team Managers \u2013 band 7.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Specialist Community Public Health Nurses (SCPHN) \u2013 band 6.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>School Nurses \u2013 band 5.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Healthcare Assistants \u2013 band 3.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>The School Nursing service is governed by the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.scot\/policies\/maternal-and-child-health\/school-nursing\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Ten Priority Pathway<\/a>. However, as part of a wider multidisciplinary team the School Nurse can offer support in a varying degree of areas including:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Universal Health Screening services<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Mental Health and Wellbeing<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Emotional and Behavioural Support<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Parental Support<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Health promotion\/education, e.g. healthy lifestyles, risk-taking behaviours, etc.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Nocturnal enuresis \u2013 referrals accepted from medical professionals only<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Sexual Health<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>The School Nursing has a standardised <a href=\"https:\/\/services.nhslothian.scot\/schoolnursing\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/99\/2022\/12\/school-nursing-service-request-for-assistance-form.docx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Request for Assistance form<\/a> that must be completed and returned to the shared mailbox for each specific cluster.
