They have received extensive training in rheumatology and musculoskeletal medicine.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The nurses carry out regular patient reviews in dedicated clinics and provide a wide variety of services (see below).&nbsp; Some of the members of this team can&nbsp;prescribe medications and&nbsp;provide joints injections. They are all supported by the Rheumatology Consultants.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Rheumatology Nurses are there&nbsp;to enhance rather than replace the care you will be given by your Consultants.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>All of the team in Edinburgh are working towards Advanced Nursing Practice qualifications with a focus on Rheumatology.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Some of the services provided by the Rheumatology Nurse Specialists<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>A dedicated Rheumatology telephone advice line<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Nurse-led general review clinics<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Joint injection clinics<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Biologics clinics<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Virtual blood monitoring<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Medication telephone review clinics<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Medication counselling<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>General education and self-management advice<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The Rheumatology Advice Line<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><em><strong>Due to the ongoing pressures created by the pandemic, the Clinical Nurse Specialists have been redeployed to assist with the response to COVID-19.
