Gordon William Duncan<\/strong>
BMSc, MBChB, PhD, FRCPE<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I am a Consultant Geriatrician with NHS Lothian and an Honorary Clinical Senior Lecturer at the University of Edinburgh. My work focuses on Parkinson’s disease and movement disrders as they affect older people, combining high quality clinical care with research, education and quality improvement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I qualified from Dundee University Medical School in 2002 and trained in Dundee, Middlesbrough and New Zealand. I undertook higher specialty training in General Internal Medicine (GIM) and Geriatric Medicine in the Northern Deanery (2007-14). During this time I was a Clinical Research Fellow in the Institute for Ageing and Health at Newcastle University (2011 \u2013 2013). My PhD focused on the evolution and impact of non-motor symptoms and cognitive impairment in people with early Parkinson\u2019s disease and particularly the development of biomarkers for cognitive impairment in Parkinson\u2019s. In addition I gained considerable clinical expertise of all aspects of Parkinson\u2019s disease in a tertiary Movement Disorders centre.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I am principally involved in the delivery of clinical trials and clinical research studies for Parkinson’s disease, Dementia with Lewy bodies and Progressive supranuclear palsy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As a Consultant Geriatrician I provide care for older people with a wide variety of medical problems. I have a weekly Parkinson’s and movement disorders clinic where I see older people living with Parkinson’s disease and other movement disorders. I work closely with colleagues in the multidisciplinary team to provide high quality care.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n
