{"id":687,"date":"2024-07-16T10:55:00","date_gmt":"2024-07-16T09:55:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/services.nhslothian.scot\/neonatalunit\/?page_id=687"},"modified":"2024-07-16T11:00:29","modified_gmt":"2024-07-16T10:00:29","slug":"st-johns-hospital","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/services.nhslothian.scot\/neonatalunit\/st-johns-hospital\/","title":{"rendered":"St. Johns Hospital"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"gb-container gb-container-5b75a283\">\n\n<p>Our other unit is based at St. Johns Hospital in Livingston and is a Special Care Unit (SCU), West Lothian has around 200 admissions per year and\u00a0 has a maximum capacity of 10 cots which is split between<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>2 Stabilisation Cots<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>2 High Dependency Cots<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>8 Special Care Cots<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<\/div>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-pb-accordion-item c-accordion__item js-accordion-item no-js\" data-initially-open=\"false\" data-click-to-close=\"true\" data-auto-close=\"true\" data-scroll=\"false\" data-scroll-offset=\"0\"><h2 id=\"at-6870\" class=\"c-accordion__title js-accordion-controller\" role=\"button\">Can I claim for food and travel?<\/h2><div id=\"ac-6870\" class=\"c-accordion__content\">\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Being a parent or guardian on the unit you are able to claim for travel and food expenses.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Young patients family fund enables families to claim up to \u00a38.50 per day. Application forms can be found at main reception with ward clerks or available from your baby\u2019s nurse at bedside.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Forms must be completed and signed by staff nurse on NNU and then taken to hospital cashiers office in main mall of hospital for processing.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-pb-accordion-item c-accordion__item js-accordion-item no-js\" data-initially-open=\"false\" data-click-to-close=\"true\" data-auto-close=\"true\" data-scroll=\"false\" data-scroll-offset=\"0\"><h2 id=\"at-6871\" class=\"c-accordion__title js-accordion-controller\" role=\"button\">Can parents stay over?<\/h2><div id=\"ac-6871\" class=\"c-accordion__content\">\n<p>Accommodation available on SCBU. X2 rooms. Allocation of this from nurse in charge<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-pb-accordion-item c-accordion__item js-accordion-item no-js\" data-initially-open=\"false\" data-click-to-close=\"true\" data-auto-close=\"true\" data-scroll=\"false\" data-scroll-offset=\"0\"><h2 id=\"at-6872\" class=\"c-accordion__title js-accordion-controller\" role=\"button\">Parent Support Group<\/h2><div id=\"ac-6872\" class=\"c-accordion__content\">\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>On the neonatal unit we have the Family Wellbeing Team. This team is made up of 3 clinical psychologists who are available throughout the week Mon-Fri. They are available as part of your baby\u2019s care. The team offer confidential wellbeing appointments, support for emotional health and any parent-infant relationship issues related to experiences of maternity and neonatal care.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>If you would like to speak with the Family Wellbeing Team they can be contacted via your baby\u2019s nurse or medical team. Or contacted directly at mnpi.mail.nhslothian.scot.nhs.uk<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The spiritual care team offer confidential support for families and can be contacted via the nurse at your baby\u2019s bedside.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Bliss charity \u2013 we have signposting on our Bliss notice board in the SCBU to the many support resources available from Bliss for parents and families of premature or sick babies.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Other charity and support group information can be found around the SCBU and on our social media pages.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Dads Rock advertised on unit as a good resources for new dads. This is an Edinburgh based charity which has support groups and other resources such as a whatsapp group for providing help and support for dads in NNU &#8211; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dadsrock.org.uk\/\">Dads Rock<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-pb-accordion-item c-accordion__item js-accordion-item no-js\" data-initially-open=\"false\" data-click-to-close=\"true\" data-auto-close=\"true\" data-scroll=\"false\" data-scroll-offset=\"0\"><h2 id=\"at-6873\" class=\"c-accordion__title js-accordion-controller\" role=\"button\">Siblings Support<\/h2><div id=\"ac-6873\" class=\"c-accordion__content\">\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The family wellbeing team can also offer support to siblings as needed as well as parents.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-pb-accordion-item c-accordion__item js-accordion-item no-js\" data-initially-open=\"false\" data-click-to-close=\"true\" data-auto-close=\"true\" data-scroll=\"false\" data-scroll-offset=\"0\"><h2 id=\"at-6874\" class=\"c-accordion__title js-accordion-controller\" role=\"button\">Faith Leaders<\/h2><div id=\"ac-6874\" class=\"c-accordion__content\">\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Spiritual Care team \/ Chaplaincy service in the St. Johns available Mon-Fri 9-5 based&nbsp; in the department of spiritual care, located near the main entrance on the ground floor near WH Smith<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Chaplains work on-call as well and can be contacted out of hours so this service is available 24\/7.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>To contact this service please speak to nurse at bedside.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>If you wish to bring your own faith leader this can be arranged, please speak with nurse looking after your baby or team leader.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>We can also arrange a blessing or naming ceremony etc if you wish. Please arrange this with nurse looking after your baby.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-pb-accordion-item c-accordion__item js-accordion-item no-js\" data-initially-open=\"false\" data-click-to-close=\"true\" data-auto-close=\"true\" data-scroll=\"false\" data-scroll-offset=\"0\"><h2 id=\"at-6875\" class=\"c-accordion__title js-accordion-controller\" role=\"button\">Nearby places for &#8220;time out&#8221;<\/h2><div id=\"ac-6875\" class=\"c-accordion__content\">\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>We have a family seating room which is still on the unit but away from the noise of the main area. This has dimmed light and sofas for a quieter space to relax.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The department of spiritual care is available for quiet space to sit if a family member is needing some \u201ctime out\u201d. This is found on the ground floor near the main entrance<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-pb-accordion-item c-accordion__item js-accordion-item no-js\" data-initially-open=\"false\" data-click-to-close=\"true\" data-auto-close=\"true\" data-scroll=\"false\" data-scroll-offset=\"0\"><h2 id=\"at-6876\" class=\"c-accordion__title js-accordion-controller\" role=\"button\">WiFi and Mobile Phones<\/h2><div id=\"ac-6876\" class=\"c-accordion__content\"><div class=\"gb-container gb-container-63201269\">\n\n<p><strong>WiFi: <\/strong><\/p>\n\n<\/div>\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>There is WIFI available in the hospital. This is just listed as NHS-Freewifi when searched on phone \/ electronic device.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>No charges but asks you to create login when first try to use.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n<div class=\"gb-container gb-container-849aa17a\">\n\n<p><strong>Mobile Phones: <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Mobile phones are allowed on the unit but we ask that they are used in the corridor or family room and not at the cot side and are kept on silent mode.
