Neonatal Unit NHS Lothian | Our Services

Transferring back to your local unit

If your baby has been cared for at a non-local hospital, we will aim to transfer them to a more local hospital as soon as they are well enough. This is one step closer to them being able to come home. We call this the neonatal repatriation of your baby.

Transfer Closer to Home: The neonatal repatriation of your baby

Whether your baby is being repatriated to the neonatal unit in their local hospital or they are being moved to one of Scotland’s childrens hospitals for continuation of care, you can click on the link below to view the unit you and your baby will be moving to:

If your baby is needing to transferred to another neonatal unit then this will be carried out by the ScotSTAR transport team. Please select the link below to view a video all about how ScotSTAR do this.
