Hand therapy, rheumatology and hydrotherapy referrals differ.)<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Consultant\/ hospital referral&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What to expect&nbsp;<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>From your 1st\u00a0appointment:\u00a0Depending on your problem\/ injury your first appointment will either be on the telephone or face to face. New patient appointments may last around 45 minutes and further return appointments may last around 30 minutes. At your appointment you will have an opportunity to discuss your problem and goals with a physiotherapist and it will usually involve a physical assessment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Face to Face appointments:&nbsp;Please bring a list of your medications with you and any forms or questionnaires you have been asked to complete. You may be asked to bring shorts and\/ or a vest top so the physiotherapist can assess you.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Phone appointments:&nbsp;You will be asked to confirm your telephone number when you book your first physiotherapy appointment. At your appointment time a physiotherapist will call you to either complete an initial assessment or a follow up consultation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Video appointments: Please see the <a href=\"https:\/\/services.nhslothian.scot\/Physiotherapy\/Documents\/NHS%20Near%20Me%20Patient%20Leaflet%20WGH.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">NHS Near Me patient leaflet<\/a> to find out more information about how to attend your video appointment. To access your video appointment please visit <a href=\"https:\/\/nhsattend.vc\/pmskwgh\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">nhsattend.vc\/pmskwgh<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What if I cannot attend my appointment?&nbsp;<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Missed&nbsp;appointments will result in a longer wait to be seen. If you cannot attend your physiotherapy appointment, please contact us as soon as possible&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Contact telephone number: 0131 537 1288<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>If you do not attend an agreed appointment and have not informed the physiotherapy department of this in advance you will be removed from the waiting list. If you contact the physiotherapy department within 4 weeks of this missed appointment you may be re-added to the waiting list.
