We provide short-term support for adults in Midlothian who are experiencing mental distress or crisis.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Support we offer<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">When you contact our service, you will speak with a mental health practitioner. We\u2019ll have a short, confidential conversation to understand what you\u2019re going through and how we can support you.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We will work with you to create a support plan. We can offer a range of help, including:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Connect you with local community resources, like peer support groups, volunteering, or help returning to work.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Help you find other local services or charities&nbsp;if you need more specific or longer-term support.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Refer you to the Distress Brief Intervention (DBI) service, if it\u2019s right for you. DBI offers up to 14 days of short-term support to help you manage emotional distress and find longer-term help.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Support you to set goals and build strategies&nbsp;to manage your wellbeing and strengthen your resilience.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Offer practical advice&nbsp;with everyday tasks that may feel overwhelming when you&#8217;re struggling.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">How to access the service<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Our service is for anyone aged 18 and over who lives in Midlothian.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>You don&#8217;t need a referral from your GP or any other professional.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>You can contact us directly whenever you need support.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>How long you might wait to be seen<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">When you call the Mental Health and Resilience Service, you will speak directly with a mental health practitioner. We will listen to what you need and aim to agree a support plan within an hour of your call.  If you are referred to the Distress Brief Intervention (DBI) service, you will receive a wellbeing check-in from a practitioner within 24 hours. Most people then have their first support session within five days of that check-in.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Confidentiality<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We follow strict NHS confidentiality rules and will always explain how your information is used.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Accessible information<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We aim to make our services and information accessible to everyone.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If you need this information in another format (such as
