{"id":332,"date":"2022-08-30T07:59:01","date_gmt":"2022-08-30T06:59:01","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/services.nhslothian.scot\/medicalphysics\/?page_id=332"},"modified":"2022-08-30T09:29:54","modified_gmt":"2022-08-30T08:29:54","slug":"imaging-physics","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/services.nhslothian.scot\/medicalphysics\/imaging-physics\/","title":{"rendered":"Imaging Physics"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The Imaging Physics Section provides scientific advice and technical support to Radiology departments and other users of diagnostic X-ray,\u00a0MR and Ultrasound\u00a0imaging equipment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Its principal roles include:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Managing the medical physics imaging equipment QA programme and providing technical support to the Radiographer QA programme, ensuring compliance with the IRR99 regulations in relation to equipment quality assurance.<\/li><li>Providing Medical Physics Expert services for diagnostic radiology in compliance with the requirements of IRMER in respect of dose\/image quality optimisation, research dose constraints and introduction of new imaging techniques.<\/li><li>Providing technical advice on imaging equipment procurement, to ensure new equipment purchased is fit-for-purpose and value for money<\/li><li>Providing MR Safety Advisor services to NHS Lothian<\/li><li>Providing scientific support to the clinical MRI service<\/li><li>Providing CT physics support to the Clinical Research Imaging Centre<\/li><li>Providing training and teaching in imaging physics to a range of staff groups including Radiologists, Radiographers, Surgeons and Physicists<\/li><li>Carrying out research and development within the field of imaging physics.<\/li><\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Imaging Physics Section provides scientific advice and technical support to Radiology departments and other users of diagnostic X-ray,&nbsp;MR and Ultrasound&nbsp;imaging equipment.
