When you are discharged home, your community Midwife will receive an email and will visit the next day.  The time of her visit cannot be pre-planned.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

You continue to have visits from your community Midwife until your baby is 10 days old.  These visits may not be every day if you and your baby are well.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Your Health Visitor will make contact with you and arrange to visit when your baby is between 11 and 14 days old, further visits will be discussed with you and mutually agreed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Never shake or smack your baby<\/strong>, no matter how frustrated you might feel. Shaking or smacking your baby can damage their brain or can even kill them. Shaking your baby makes their head move back and forth and can damage the blood vessels. If you are feeling very upset or angry, put them somewhere safe or ask someone else to hold them and leave the room. \u00a0If you or anyone else shakes your baby, get medical help straight away. If you are ever worried about your baby’s safety, always get help. Tell your midwife or health visitor or if it’s urgent call 999.
