The decision to prescribe is underpinned by applying best professional practice; understanding the condition, the patient and their context and understanding the clinical use of the drug. This resource, developed by UK healthcare professionals and policymakers, provides the information to support a safe and effective prescribing decision.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=5KrUL8tOaQs\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Brain man -understanding pain in less than 5 minutes&nbsp;<\/a>A video explaining chronic pain in less than 5 minutes.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"self-management\">Self-management<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.paintoolkit.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Pain Toolkit<\/a>\u2013 a practical guide to self-management of chronic pain, with a detailed &#8216;toolkit&#8217; which can be printed out.&nbsp; It is also available in French, German and Italian.<strong><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.moodjuice.scot.nhs.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">http:\/\/www.moodjuice.scot.nhs.uk\/<\/a>&#8211; this self-management site helps individuals think about emotional problems and work towards solving them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.torbayandsouthdevon.nhs.uk\/services\/pain-service\/reconnect2life\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Reconnect 2 life<\/a>&#8211; An interactive program to help you look at pain and how it affects individuals. It consists of a six modules which can be completed in any order (understanding pain, improving health &amp; fitness, changing the way you think &amp; feel, reconnecting with your valvues, creating skills for the future and specific conditions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Low mood, anxiety, sleep difficulties and other problemsow mood, anxiety, sleep difficulties and other problems<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.mind.org.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">www.mind.org.uk<\/a>&nbsp;\u2013 the National Association for Mental Health provides information on mental health difficulties.&nbsp; The &#8216;Factsheets and booklets listed by subjects&#8217; section contains free booklets on a wide variety of mental health issues, plus details of other resources and links to other useful organisations.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.mentalhealth.org.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">www.mentalhealth.org.uk<\/a>&nbsp;\u2013 The Mental Health Foundation website provides information on the UK&#8217;s leading mental health research, and the &#8216;Publications&#8217; section offers a number of useful publications for purchase or download<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"condition-specific-websites\">Condition Specific Websites<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"back-pain\">Back pain<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.backcare.org.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">www.backcare.org.uk<\/a>&nbsp;\u2013 specifically for people with lower back and general back pain.&nbsp; There is a forum and helpline available, as well as useful information on back pain and care.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.sheffieldachesandpains.com\/back-and-neck\/home\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">https:\/\/www.sheffieldachesandpains.com\/back-and-neck\/home\/<\/a>&nbsp;&#8211; This website provides information, advice and resources from Sheffield clinicians to help patients get back to health (? Appropriate)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"fibromyalgia\">Fibromyalgia<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.fibromyalgia-associationuk.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">www.fibromyalgia-associationuk.org<\/a>&nbsp;\u2013 information on fibromyalgia and how to manage the condition, and details of local support groups and help lines within your area.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"arthritis\">Arthritis<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.arthritisresearchuk.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">www.arthritisresearchuk.org<\/a>&nbsp;\u2013 Arthritis Research UK (formerly the Arthritis Research Campaign) website.&nbsp; Contains a very helpful section called &#8216;Arthritis Information&#8217; with information on various aspects of arthritis and related musculoskeletal conditions including hypermobility and fibromyalgia, as well as low back pain.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.arthritiscare.org.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">www.arthritiscare.org.uk<\/a>&nbsp;\u2013 Arthritis Care website.&nbsp; A website specifically for patients with lots of information on different arthritis related conditions, as well as a forum with trained workers, and a helpline.&nbsp; There is also information on local support groups.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"pelvic-pain\">Pelvic pain<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.pelvicpain.org.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">www.pelvicpain.org.uk<\/a>&nbsp;\u2013 the Pelvic Pain Support Network provides information, plus a message forum for members where they can find support and ask advice of other members of the public.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Conditions covered include endometriosis, vulval pain, prostatitis, chronic pelvic pain syndrome, and interstitial cystitis.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"vulval-pain\">Vulval pain<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/vulvalpainsociety.org.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">https:\/\/vulvalpainsociety.org.uk\/<\/a>\u00a0\u2013 the Vulval Pain Society provides information and support for women suffering from vestibulodynia and vulvodynia.\u00a0 It is a confidential service for those who suffer from vulval pain.\u00a0It also has details of support groups which operate in various areas of the UK.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"endometriosis\">Endometriosis<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/endometriosis-uk.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">www.endometriosis-uk.org<\/a>&nbsp;\u2013 this charity provides information and support on many aspects of endometriosis, from causes to treatment.
