{"id":3,"date":"2021-04-08T14:31:10","date_gmt":"2021-04-08T13:31:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/services.nhslothian.scot\/gynaecology\/?page_id=3"},"modified":"2022-12-13T09:42:20","modified_gmt":"2022-12-13T09:42:20","slug":"home","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/services.nhslothian.scot\/gynaecology\/","title":{"rendered":"Gynaecology Overview"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>NHS Lothian offers a wide range of specialist services for our Gynaecology patients, including planned and emergency care for inpatients and outpatients at a number of units across the region.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Gynaecology Clinics<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Our hospital specialists provide treatment for patients with a wide range of gynaecological problems including:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Period Problems<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Pelvic Pain<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Menopause and HRT related problems<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Fibroids<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Endometriosis<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Subfertility<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Prolapse &amp; bladder problems<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Recurrent miscarriage<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Vulval problems and skin conditions<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Colposcopy (for patients with abnormal smear results)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Outpatient Hysteroscopy (looking inside the womb with a telescope)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Early Pregnancy Problems<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Hormonal problems relating to Gynaecology<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Sterilisation requests<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Gynaecological Cancer Clinics<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>NHS Lothian runs a fast track service so that patients who may have a gynaecological cancer are seen and investigated urgently, ensuring that results come back quickly and the cancer problem can be confirmed or ruled out as soon as possible.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The patients who do have a cancer are then managed in clinics run by the Multi-disciplinary Gynaecological Oncology Team who organise the most appropriate treatment for each individual patient.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Chalmer&#8217;s Centre<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Sexual Health, Family Planning, Genito-Urinary Medicine and some areas of Gynaecological care<strong>&nbsp;<\/strong>are provided through the Chalmer&#8217;s Centre and full details about the services provided here can be found on the NHS Lothian sexual health website.
