The tests can also provide information which may be useful to their relatives and enable them to access appropriate healthcare.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Making A Genetic Test Request<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/services.nhslothian.scot\/geneticservice\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/54\/2024\/01\/074-Patient-Info-Sheet-Genetic-testing-for-women-affected-by-breast-cancer-21.11.23.pdf\" data-type=\"attachment\" data-id=\"1101\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Patient information sheet<\/a> :  give your patient a copy of the patient information sheet<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/services.nhslothian.scot\/geneticservice\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/54\/2022\/08\/BRCA-v5.pdf\" data-type=\"attachment\" data-id=\"638\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Genetic test Request Form<\/a>&nbsp; : complete the genetic test request form<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Send completed form with&nbsp;<strong>EDTA blood sample<\/strong>&nbsp;to the Molecular Genetics Laboratory<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>Please note the patient should sign and date the consent form.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The laboratory will not process samples that are accompanied by incomplete or incorrect forms.&nbsp;
