Emergency Dental Care (Registered & Unregistered Patients)

What is a Dental Emergency?

A Dental Emergency is: –

  • Trauma to the Teeth
  • Uncontrolled Dental Pain
  • Uncontrolled Bleeding from the Mouth
  • Facial Swelling (Altered Appearance)
  • Swelling Inside the Mouth
  • Ulceration
  • Altered Sensation (Face or Mouth)

All other routine dental care should be directed to a General Dental Practitioner.

How to Access Urgent Dental Care

Registered Patients:

Monday to Friday – 9am to 6pm:
Contact your own Dentist.

After 6pm, call NHS 24 on 111.

Saturdays and Sundays:
Call NHS 24 on 111.

Unregistered Patients:

Monday to Friday – 9am to 6pm:
Call Chalmers Emergency Dental Centre: 0131 537 8801 or 0131 537 8802 (Out of Hours Access Dial NHS 24 on 111).

After 6pm, call NHS 24 on 111.

Saturdays and Sundays:
Call NHS 24 on 111.

Please note that this is not a walk-in service, patients are triaged and allocated an appointment prior to attending the clinic.
