Assessment of Competency<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Depending on learning and\/or skill to be undertaken there may be a requirement for assessment of workers\u2019 competency.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Competency assessment promotes safe working practice and supports individuals to get the right care, at the right time, in the right place by appropriately trained and competent staff.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Common learning and skills that require assessment of competency include: vital signs (pulse, blood pressure etc.), catheterisation or other clinical skill.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Teams Providing Education<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

There are many teams involved in providing education both in the workplace and in the classroom. These teams include:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Clinical Education & Training Team<\/a> (CET) an NHS Lothian team who work closely with other to deliver training and support.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Lothian Care Academy<\/a> (LCA) works with a variety of teams, to promote and develop a learning hub, which includes information and tools to support continuing professional learning (CPL)<\/a>, and a learning and development directory including other training opportunities<\/a> from external sources.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Care Home Support Teams (CHST) provide local education and support in care home settings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Specialist clinical teams also provide education on specific topics.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

\n

Most of these learning and development topics link with support offered to staff and\/or residents by various teams.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
