This is not a normal part of ageing and people of all ages can develop dementia, although it is more common in older people.<br><br>Although there isn\u2019t a cure for dementia at the moment, getting a diagnosis as early as you can means that in some cases it could be slowed down and the person may be able to maintain normal function for longer. This affects a person\u2019s thinking, behaviour, feelings and abilities. It is possible to have more than one type at a time; this is called \u2018mixed dementia\u2019.<br><br>Although a lot of time has been spent on research we haven\u2019t found a cure yet. But we now have medications that can help with some of the symptoms of the different types of dementia.
