Each month two members of the Support Group Committee set up an information table \u2013 the \u201cClinic Table\u201d \u2013 during a Thursday afternoon clinic at the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh. \u00a0The aim is to disseminate information<\/strong> about bronchiectasis and inform new\/existing patients about the Support Group?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n Frequently new people come \u2013 particularly carers \u2013 knowing very little about bronchiectasis. Sometimes even after seeing the doctor they have questions that they wish they had asked, during the consultation. We can\u2019t offer medical advice \u2013 but we can point to some excellent material that provides most if not all the answers. We\u2019ve even heard people say \u2026\u201dWe\u2019ve learned more in the last few minutes talking to you that in the last few years\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n One of the key documents is the Chest Heart and Stroke Scotland (CHSS) booklet \u201cLiving with Bronchiectasis\u201d \u2013 just go to the \u201cBronchiectasis Booklet\u201d link on this page. And of course we also refer to our own website here which contains a range of information on the condition. But there is also a huge range of other material on specific issues \u2013 ranging from sources of advice on benefits through to things like travel insurance, respite care etc.<\/p>\n\n\n\n If patients agree we can take name and contact details and keep them informed about our meetings and send copies of our newsletters. \u00a0No pressure on this \u2013 but many do give their details because there is a demand for information, particularly in relation to living with the condition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n When you are in the waiting room \u2013 and the clinic table is there \u2013 come and meet us. \u00a0No obligation \u2013 the only risk is gaining a better understanding of bronchiectasis \u2013 and the support available.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" How do we disseminate information?
