Treatment plans which are specific to your circumstances are the key.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Will my bronchiectasis shorten my lifespan?<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>In mild bronchiectasis there is no shortage of life expectancy.&nbsp; In very severe bronchiectasis, however, some patients die at a younger age because of their lung disease.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We are aware there are factors that can affect a person\u2019s likelihood of either being admitted to hospital or of dying at a younger age.\u00a0 We can calculate that likelihood using a scoring system such as the Bronchiectasis Severity Index (BSI) which is based on several factors such as age, lung function and specific bacteria &#8211; <a href=\"https:\/\/bronchiectasis.github.io\/calculator\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">click here<\/a> for more information.
